Get your calendars ready! The Niche History Club offers a vibrant mix of intellectual events, social gatherings, and historical field trips. Our schedule is designed to give you both deep research opportunities and fun, casual ways to meet like-minded history enthusiasts.

Visit the Archives of the Peculiar

Date & Time: Saturday, November 16th, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Location: Downtown Historical Archives, Special Collections Wing. (We'll arrange carpools from campus.) Description: A chance to handle and examine primary sources related to local niche history—from forgotten city maps to 19th-century advertisements. Perfect for research inspiration! What to Bring: ID, a notebook/pencil (pens are often restricted near documents), and about $10 for transportation/lunch.

Holiday Historical Movie Night

Date & Time: Friday, December 6th, 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM Location: Campus Lecture Hall C105 Description: A casual social event to relax before exams. We'll screen a historically inspired, but perhaps lesser-known, film (past favourites include The Great Train Robbery). What to Bring: A blanket/pillow for comfort, and a friend! We'll provide the popcorn.

Local History Walking Tour

Date & Time: Sunday, February 9th, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Location: Meet at the Old Mill Gate Description: An outdoor guided tour exploring the sites of forgotten factories and industries that shaped our city. Dress warmly! What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, warm clothing, and maybe a bottle of water.
